  • Pastor DJ has been Rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Smyrna, DE since April 2012. Her Masters of Divinity is from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA where she also received a Certificate in African American Studies. She was ordained a Deacon in May 2006 in the Diocese of Bethlehem and then a Priest in September 2007. After ordination, DJ served part-time at her home parish, St. Gabriel’s in Douglassville, PA, for five years and then as a non-stipendary associate at St. Alban’s, Sinking Spring, PA until she was called by St. Peter’s.

She has an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree of Business Administration majoring in Business Management from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. DJ worked full-time in the business and corporate area for thirty years before entering parish ministry full-time. Her past experiences include being a secretary, a travel agent, a small claims aviation adjuster, a computer programmer, and a 401(k)-retirement plan manager. All have taught her life skills and confirmed her true love and passion for parish ministry.

In 1992 DJ made a weekend silent directed retreat at a Jesuit retreat house. Beginning in 1993 and continuing to the present, DJ has made an eight-day silent directed retreat at a Jesuit retreat house each year. In 2008, she made the 30-day retreat on the Spiritual Exercises at the Campion Renewal Center in Weston, MA. The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola have been instrumental in her spiritual journey of cultivating a friendship with God.

DJ is single and has two Yorkshire Terriers–Brady and Amadeo–whom she enjoys pampering. She enjoys walking, reading, relaxing, puzzles, and kayaking. Over the years, she’s had the opportunity to travel out of the country to England, Israel, Nepal, Tibet, Thailand, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and Mexico.

  • Communicationscoord@churchoftheholyspirit.us

Dawn is the Communications Coordinator at Church of the Holy Spirit. She helps to maintain the website and COHS social media, puts together our weekly Constant Contact newsletter and helps with publicizing COHS events.

When not at COHS, she is also a school bus driver for the Daniel Boone School District, and has begun a flower farm.

Dawn loves to sing, and had been a member of the choir since 2000 and had rung in the handbell choir since 2009 as one of its original ringers.  Her participation has been limited since moving further away in 2022.

Dawn and her family have been attending COHS since 1998 and both her children have been on the J2A (Journey to Adulthood) pilgrimages.  In the past, she was a Sunday School teacher for COHS and has been on the third pilgrimage as chaperone for the J2A class she was teaching, and also chaperoned many Spruce Lake Retreats for the youth. Dawn has volunteered as account manager for the Choir tours, and also attended those trips.

Now that the kids are out of the house, she lives with her husband and two dogs – Violet, a pitbull terrier, and Liesl, a Drahthaar.  In 2019 they welcomed their first grandbaby into their lives and spend a lot of time lovin’ on him!

In 2022, Dawn and her husband Charley moved to Elverson, PA and Dawn has started a cut flower farm on her property. The flower farm is named after her pitbull Violet, and is called Violet Hill Flower Co.

  • AV@churchoftheholyspirit.us

Patrick is in charge of our online video presence.  He began filming our Sunday services during the pandemic—taking all the pieces of the service that come in separately (the sermon, the readings, the music, the peace, etc.) and combining it into one cohesive service and presenting it Sunday mornings at our Facebook page.

Since the installation of our new AV system in 2021, Patrick has been our livestream coordinator. He is actively teaching volunteers how to use the system, as well. The congregation appreciates his creativity and artistry in this important ministry.
