Lent and Holy Week
at COHS 2026

Please take a moment to look at reflections written by members and friends of our congregation based on daily readings during Lent. Did you know that there are daily Bible readings appointed for every day of the year? Our writers each chose a reading during Lent and were asked to read and reflect upon the Scripture, and offer a short reflection. We are so grateful for their thoughtful, prayerful offerings that will allow our COHS congregation to make the journey through Lent together.

Lenten Retreat Day

with Dr. Rev. Christian Brocato

Dates: Saturday, March 29 (now filled) and
Saturday, April 5 (a few spots still open)
Time: 10:00 - 12:00AM
Where: COHS Fellowship Hall

Lament can enable us to experience love and care from God and others around us. It isn’t always easy to let those ‘others in’ including God when we are deeply sad, emotionally a trainwreck or fully in touch with raw feelings too sensitive to share. And yet, we are not alone.

Consider this retreat in the midst of our Lenten Journey and in the midst of a world rapidly changing around us. Through prayer, biblical passages, conferences and silence, we will explore the importance of lament in our lives of faith.

The retreat will be limited to sixteen participants, and registration is required. Please click here to register (there are only a few spots open). I hope you will consider this opportunity.

Holy Week

(read “What is Holy Week” here):

  • Palm Sunday - March 29
    Holy Communion with Palms
    8 and 10:15 AM

With Palms (outdoor procession of the Palms at 10:15 AM, weather permitting) with choir and an interpretive reading of the Passion of Jesus Christ at both services.

  • Maundy Thursday - April 2
    7:30 PM

The Gospel on Maundy Thursday institutes the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Jesus offers bread and wine as his body and blood and tells us to continue that offering in remembrance of him. The Gospel also indicates that Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and calls us to do the same. So, we will celebrate the Eucharist with the option of washing one another's feet and then the altar and tabernacle will be 'stripped,' symbolizing Jesus being stripped of his dignity, as he was arrested and held in prison to await his trial.

  • Good Friday - April 3
    7:30 PM
The Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday includes the Passion sung by the choir, the offering of Communion from the Reserved Sacrament and the Veneration of the Cross. Good Friday marks the offering of the body and blood of Jesus on the Cross for us and our salvation.

The Church will be open from Noon - 3 PM for prayers and meditation.

  • Great Vigil of Easter
    Saturday, April 4
    7:30 PM

With the kindling of the fire at dusk, the Exsultet offered by Deacon Johnine, lessons from the Scriptures, renewal of our Baptismal Covenant, and celebration of festive Easter Holy Communion.

  • Easter Sunday - April 5
    8 and 10:15 AM

10:15 AM service will be livestreamed on Facebook and COHS website
Festive celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

An Easter Egg Hunt will follow the 10:15 AM service. (See below!)

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The COHS Easter Egg Hunt will take place following the 10:15 AM service on Easter Sunday. Please consider contributing to the fun by picking up a bag (or two) of separated eggs to fill with treats—candy and non-candy!!

Things to remember:

  • Egg bags will be available for pick up along the left wall of the main Church entrance.

  • Please fill your eggs with individually-wrapped candies to reduce germs and bugs.

  • Please make sure the candy items contain NO NUTS.

  • You may also choose to fill eggs with non-candy items, such as erasers, coins, individual stickers, individual temporary tattoos, small rings, rubber bracelets, etc.

Please return filled eggs by Sunday, March 29 so they may be included in the Easter Egg Hunt. There will be a box in the same location in the main entrance of the church. Please reach out to Denise Kolsky, or Wendy Toth with any questions!

Thank you!
