Lent and Holy Week
at COHS 2026

Enrich your Lenten journey with “Holy Habits” meditations from Episcopal Relief & Development. Running Ash Wednesday through Easter, these reflections offer insight into monastic life and a practical path to building habits for a life rooted in faith. They are authored by Sister Monica Clare who is the Superior of the Community of St. John Baptist, an Episcopal women's Order located in Mendham, New Jersey. Palm Sunday -March 29
Holy Communion with Palms
8 and 10:15 AM

8:00 will process with palms indoors through the hallway
10:15 will process with Palms outdoors, (weather permitting) with choir and there will be an interpretive reading of the Passion of Jesus Christ at both services.

The 10:15 AM service will be live-streamed.

Maundy Thursday - April 2
7:30 PM

The Gospel on Maundy Thursday institutes the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Jesus offers bread and wine as his body and blood and tells us to continue that offering in remembrance of him. The Gospel also indicates that Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and calls us to do the same. So, we will celebrate the Eucharist with the option of washing one another's feet and then the altar and tabernacle will be 'stripped,' symbolizing Jesus being stripped of his dignity, as he was arrested and held in prison to await his trial.

This service will also be live-streamed.

Vigil Watch
Maundy Thursday (4/2) 9PM – Good Friday (4/3) 9AM

Near the end of the Maundy Thursday service the reserved Sacrament needed for communion during the Good Friday service will be processed from the altar to the Altar of Repose that will be in the first classroom off the Sanctuary, set up as a chapel with an altar, kneelers, and chairs. The Sacrament will be on the altar with candles on both sides. We will be invited to watch with Jesus for one hour either in person (inside the locked church) or from home (via a camera).

All time slots have been filled - thank you!

Good Friday - April 3
7:30 PM
The Solemn Liturgy of Good Fridayincludes the Passion sung by the choir, the offering of Communion from the Reserved Sacrament and the Veneration of the Cross. Good Friday marks the offering of the body and blood of Jesus on the Cross for us and our salvation.

The Church will be open from Noon - 3 PM for prayers and meditation.

This service will also be live-streamed.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Remember to bring a bag or basket to gather eggs!

The COHS Easter Egg Hunt will take place following the 10:15 AM service on Easter Sunday. Please consider contributing to the fun by picking up a bag (or two) of separated eggs to fill with treats—candy and non-candy!!

Things to remember:

  • Egg bags will be available for pick up in the narthex outside the sanctuary 3/8; 3/15 and 3/22.

  • Please fill your eggs with individually-wrapped candies to reduce germs and insects.

  • Please make sure the candy items contain NO NUTS.

  • You may also choose to fill eggs with non-candy items, such as erasers, coins, individual stickers, individual temporary tattoos, small rings, rubber bracelets, etc. Please do not mix loose unwrapped candy with these non candy items.

  • If you took home a plastic egg with 'Alleuia' in it consider bringing it back with candy added to the egg and include your 'Alleluia' paper. Additional 'Alleluia' scrolls will be available with the empty eggs to include as a reminder that we resurrect 'Alleluia' on Easter. Or, you can print your own sheet of Alleluias by clicking HERE.

  • We will have a small special prize available for children who find an 'Alleluia' in their eggs!

Please return filled eggs by Palm Sunday, March 29 so they may be included in the Easter Egg Hunt. There will be a box in the same location in the main entrance of the church.
