The Besch family joins us to bring their expertise as leaders of a support group at their church for the LGBTQ+ community. Ralien and Amey are staff members of Trinity Great Swamp UCC and are nurturing a blended family of four adult children as a married lesbian couple. They will be joined by Holy Spirit members, Kristen Kerwin and Angela Bartholomew, to talk about how we can support young people who identify as LGBTQ+ and live in fear. We will share stories and discuss tools and necessary language to engage in supportive conversations and welcome your questions of concern with emphasis on how we can be safe space to the LGBTQ+ community. There will be opportunity to ask your questions anonymously. Suicide remains the second-leading cause of death for youth ages 10–14 and the third for ages 15–19. LGBTQ youth have a disproportionately higher risk.
